About the Author

James Hulton

James Hulton III is a seasoned freelance copywriter, copy editor, and communications strategist with deep experience in leadership-driven, mission-focused organizations — and, more recently, a children’s book author writing stories that help young readers navigate family, kindness, and connection.

Jim spent 15 years as a chamber of commerce executive, where he handled everything from member and volunteer engagement to board-level meetings and messaging, stakeholder communications, and public outreach. That experience gave him an insider’s understanding of nonprofit governance, public accountability, and the day-to-day realities organizations face when communications fall to already-overloaded staff.

Before that, Jim served six and a half years as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force during wartime. The role sharpened his leadership skills, strategic thinking, and ability to communicate with clarity and confidence—especially in high-pressure, dangerous environments.

Jim has worked extensively with non-profits and for-profit small businesses, helping them clarify their message, strengthen trust, and communicate with purpose. His portfolio includes website content, email campaigns, regularly published newsletters, news releases, grant narratives, and white papers.

In addition to his work with organizations, Jim writes children’s books for readers ages 3 to 8, with stories centered on family, love, kindness, caring, sharing, and the simple joys of childhood. The Adventures of the Kidsies is the first in a planned series, with several more titles set for release over the coming months.

Today, Jim works as a communications partner—not just a copywriter. He helps organizations build and sustain messaging that is clear, credible, and consistent over time. Clients value him not only for what he writes, but for his  calm, collaborative approach and his ability to step in as a reliable extension of their team.

“I’m a longtime nonprofit executive, and a career copywriter who has spent years helping people, families, and organizations say what they mean — clearly, honestly, and with care. Now I bring that same skill to something more personal: helping families, their children, and veterans put their stories into words.”
